Duty on Imported Contact LensesIt can become expensive
to have to pay import duty on imported contact lenses and negates the attractive
benefits of buying discount contact lenses online. Goods costing
the equivalent of £18 or more are liable to customs duty and VAT. In
practice it is not practical for Customs to charge fees on so many low value items,
so you can often get away with importing goods with value up to £100 without
any problems. Higher than this and you may end up having to pay an extra 20% on
top of what you budgeted for. This is often still a lot cheaper than buying from
UK based outlets.
